This quote is probably the reason i decided to take up eskrima. I do not particularly enjoy violence, but watching what is happening in the world around us, i decided i wanted to be able to choose peace. Or if forced into conflict, make the conflict brief, be victorious, and return to enjoying peace. And it seems to me that almost all of the self defense moves i am learning are one move fight enders. Anyway, before i ramble on much further.... I truly appreciate that quote.

I've had more opportunity lately to read :( and saw this one in an ad for breaking out of ambushes"

"Shoot first; shoot fast; shoot last; shoot to kill."
"Fear stokes the focus to survive, but keep in mind it is potentially more powerful than muscles and bones, and, unfettered, it can sunder them with ease -- or go wildly awry, missing your objective altogether."

"Of every 100 men in battle, 10 should not even be there. 80 are nothing more than targets. 9 of them are fighters, we are lucky to have them, they the battle make. Ah, but the one. One of them is a warrior..... and he will bring the others back."

An old friend sent me this today and I absolutely LOVE it!

In a time of crisis, an individual will not rise to the occasion but will instead sink to his level of training, so the better the training, the better the chances of survival...

Nice. And probably pretty dang accurate i would think.
"Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise.
It is the true warrior who can master both... and surpass the result."

This one I thought was pretty interesting, yet true in a sense.

"The obstacle is the path."
- Zen Proverb
Lahai "M.P.K." Wicks

"When I consider this carefully, I find not a single property which with certainty separates the waking state from the dream. How can you be certain that your whole life is not a dream?" - Descartes

"Burn always with this hard, gemlike flame." - Walter Pater

"As if you could kill time without injuring eternity."
"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
