About the ISE -
The ISE (Inayan School of Eskrima) is proud to be the longest running and most established Inayan Eskrima institution in the world.
Training at the Inayan School of Eskrima is conducted by Tagaturo Steven Klement who was taught and ranked directly by the late Suro Mike Inay; the founder of Inayan Eskrima.
Lahong Guro Mike Klement, Guro Brad Hill, Katalungan Guro James Earles, Katalungan Guro Joe Walls and Inayan Eskrimador Michael Barnes assist in teaching the students of the Inayan School of Eskrima under the direction of Tagaturo Klement.
The ISE is headquartered in Knoxville, TN and operates within the Fierce Tiger Martial Arts Academy (which, in addition to Inayan Eskrima, offers Combat Tae Kwon Do, Combat Grappling and Law Enforcement training). In addition to Knoxville we have a school location in Pittsburgh, PA. We welcome all men, women, and young adults (12 or older) with a sincere interest in the Martial Arts to join our Eskrima program.
Classes are operated in a semiformal manner giving room for respect and safety as well as rapid mental and physical development. Classes are held at least three times weekly with openings currently available.
ISE Details -
The ISE was established in Knoxville, TN in 1995 by Tagaturo Klement to propagate and preserve Inayan Eskrima as it was taught to him by the founder of Inayan Eskrima, Mangisursuro Michael G. Inay. The "core" styles of Inayan Eskrima (Inayan; Kadena de Mano, Serrada and Largo Mano) are the foundation of each ISE Guro's teaching and creative energy. It is our goal to provide a safe and informative training environment to our students and guests and at the same time pass on the warrior concepts and principles of the entire system of Inayan Eskrima.
ISE Student Standards -
Student membership in the ISE dictates special dedication, capacity and discipline with a true commitment to the quality and future of Inayan Eskrima. Membership is NOT open to everyone. If accepted into the ISE ranks, dedicated and consistent training are a must to progress in the system as minimum standards are required and maintained throughout the tenure. The Student must pass the minimum set of physical and mental requirements before advancement to each of the respective levels. Requirements and responsibilities are increased as a Student progresses with their studies.
ISE Eskrima Training -
The Inayan School of Eskrima has the complete Inayan System of Eskrima as taught by Suro Mike Inay as the foundation of the curriculum. Each ISE instructor brings their own unique background and insight into every class. Classes are taught at least three times a week with emphasis on practicality and individual development. Extra care is given to maintain the “Basics” of Inayan Eskrima as taught by Suro Michael G. Inay. The training and education of an ISE Student is processed in five Student ranks. The training in the first two student ranks focuses on the basics of each style within Inayan Eskrima. The third and fourth student ranks focus on strengthening the leadership abilities and intermediate physical skills while the fifth student rank focuses on teaching ability and advanced physical training. Training for ISE Students is done through a combination of group and private lessons especially arranged for the needs of the Student.
ISE Membership -
The ISE is always happy to consider Student applications. If you would like to inquire about classes and enrollment, we welcome you to watch a class and/or see a demonstration. You will also meet with an Instructor. If one is accepted within the ranks of the ISE they will quickly see that our training is done as a "family". The ISE has a Code of Conduct for their members which guides the Student in class. The foundation of this Code of Conduct was written by Suro Mike Inay himself. Please feel free to call (find our contact details under the "Contact" link) and set-up a time to visit the ISE in Knoxville or Pittsburgh...
We are always excited to grow our class with positive energy - we look forward to meeting you! Don't hesitate to call. It's never too late to change your life.
